Blessings In Disguise

Bible Questions Answered:
“...and so I got mad at God for the accident, but when recovering, realized the job I couldn't be at, was not a job the Lord would approve of, so in recovery, I quit. Then I realized that maybe, the accident was really a blessing... Since then, I have found a new job, one I know the Lord would approve of...”

Bible Texts:

Psalm 37:23,24 KJV
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by The Lord: and He delighteth in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for The Lord upholdeth him with His hand.

How true it is, often afflictions are actually blessings in disguise, unbeknownst to us, at the time.

Blessings In Disguise:

Job 5:17 KJV
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of The Almighty:

Job 23:10 KJV
But He knoweth the way that I take: when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

Psalm 66:10 KJV
For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.

Psalm 119:67 KJV
Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy Word.

Isaiah 48:10 KJV
Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

Malachi 3:3 KJV
And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto The Lord an offering in righteousness.

II Corinthians 4:17 KJV
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Hebrews 12:11 NLT
No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.

I Peter 1:7 KJV
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

I Peter 4:1,2 NLT
So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude He had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.
2 You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God.

Afflictions, may be, God correcting us, an attack from the enemy, or a result of carelessness on our part.

So, what should our response be when affliction comes?

James 4:7 KJV
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Submit yourselves therefore to God
If you are out of the will of God, repent, and resubmit your life to following The Lord.

Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
If your affliction, is an outright attack by the enemy, in Jesus name and blood, resist him, and he will flee from you.

So when afflictions strike, the first thing to do is to,... give thanks!
Yes that's right, give thanks to The Lord!

I Thessalonians 5:18 KJV
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

If God is trying to “correct you,” give thanks, that He considers you one of His children!

Hebrews 12:7,8 KJV
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom
the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

If affliction is the work of the enemy, give thanks...

I John 4:4 KJV
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

If affliction is the result of carelessness, give thanks....that The Lord is trying to teach you.

Job 6:24 KJV
Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

Psalm 119:124
Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.

Psalm 143:10 KJV
Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy Spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

As God's people we have the promise of...

Romans 8:28 KJV
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

So what should we do? In All Things Give Thanks!

Psalm 34:22 KJV
The Lord redeemeth the soul of His servants: and none of them that trust in Him shall be desolate.

Psalm 48:14 KJV
For this God is our God for ever and ever: He will be our guide even unto death.

Psalm 119:133 KJV
Order my steps in thy Word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

Proverb 16:9 KJV
A man's heart deviseth his way: but The Lord directeth his steps.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 NLT
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says The Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
12 In those days when you pray, I will listen.
13 If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.

Prayer:

Isaiah 45:22 KJV
Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

Matthew 10:32 KJV
Everyone who acknowledges Me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before My Father in heaven.
