Bible Questions Answered:
“...I can't help but remembering going to the bars and meeting with thee old gang and the times we had.
So what  about that, that's wrong? Is being a christian so  much church and no life?...”
Harold/ Los Angeles, California  U.S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

The Word, The Renewing Of Our Mind:

Psalm 51:10 KJV
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalm 119:11 KJV
Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Isaiah 43:18,19 NLT
18 “But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
19 For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

Ezekiel 18:31,32 NLT
31 Put all your rebellion behind you, and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O people of Israel?
32 I don’t want you to die, says The Sovereign Lord. Turn back and live!

Ezekiel 36:26 NLT
26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new Spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
27 And I will put My Spirit in you so that you will follow My Decrees and be careful to obey My Regulations.

John 8:32 KJV
And ye shall know The Truth, and The Truth shall make you free.

John 17:17 NLT
Make them holy by your Truth; teach them your Word, which is Truth.

Romans 7:18-25 NLT (Struggling with Sin)
18 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.
19 I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway.
20 But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.

21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.
22 I love God’s Law with all my heart.
23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.
24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?
25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.

Romans 12:2 KJV
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Romans 12:2 NLT
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 13:13,14 NLT
13 Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy.
14 Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of The Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.

I Corinthians 2:16 KJV
For who hath known the mind of The Lord, that he may instruct Him? but we have the mind of Christ.

II Corinthians 4:16 NLT
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.

II Corinthians 5:16,17 NLT
16 So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know Him now!
17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

II Corinthians 10:4,5 KJV
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Galatians 5:16-25 NLT (Living by the Spirit’s Power)
16 So I say, let The Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.
17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what The Spirit wants. And The Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
18 But when you are directed by The Spirit, you are not under obligation to The Law Of Moses.

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,
21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22 But The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there.
25 Since we are living by The Spirit, let us follow The Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.

Galatians 6:14,15 NLT
14 As for me, may I never boast about anything except The Cross Of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that Cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.
15 It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.

Ephesians 4:1,20-24 KJV
1 I therefore, the prisoner of The Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as The Truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Philippians 2:5 KJV
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Philippians 4:6-8 NLT
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.
7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Colossians 1:21 KJV
And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath He reconciled

Colossians 3:2,8-17 KJV
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him:
11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long suffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16 Let The Word Of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to The Lord.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of The Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and The Father by Him.

I Peter 1:13 NLT (A Call to Holy Living)
So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.

Prayer:

Psalm 29:11 KJV
The Lord will give strength unto His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.

Bible Questions Answered:
“...he was saying, “this is not physical lust .”  Well, what then was it?...”
Sarah/ Florence, South Carolina  U.S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

Lust:
An intense longing : craving.
Merriam-Webster.Com

Lust:
A passionate or overmastering desire or craving.
Dictionary.Com

Lust, is an overpowering, craving, longing for something, _____fill in the blank. It may be for the physical, or for wealth, power, notoriety, pride and show, etc. etc. etc.

The Word, Lust;

Genesis 3:6 NLT
The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.

Genesis 6:5,6 KJV
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented The Lord that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart.

Exodus 20:17 KJV
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

Psalm 78:9-19 KJV
9 The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
10 They kept not The Covenant Of God, and refused to walk in His Law;
11 And forgot His works, and His wonders that He had shewed them.
12 Marvelous things did He in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13 He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and He made the waters to stand as an heap.
14 In the daytime also He led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
15 He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.
16 He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17 And they sinned yet more against Him by provoking The Most High in the wilderness.
18 And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.
19 Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?

Psalm 81:10-16 KJV
10 I am The Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 But My people would not hearken to My voice; and Israel would none of Me.
12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
13 Oh that My people had hearkened unto Me, and Israel had walked in My ways!
14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned My hand against their adversaries.
15 The haters of The Lord should have submitted themselves unto Him: but their time should have endured for ever.
16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

Proverbs 6:25-29 NLT
25 Don’t lust for her beauty Don’t let her coy glances seduce you.
26 For a prostitute will bring you to poverty, but sleeping with another man’s wife will cost you your life.
27 Can a man scoop a flame into his lap and not have his clothes catch on fire?
28 Can he walk on hot coals and not blister his feet?
29 So it is with the man who sleeps with another man’s wife. He who embraces her will not go unpunished.

Matthew 5:27,28 KJV
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Mark 4:19 KJV
And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke The Word, and it becometh unfruitful.

Romans 1:21-27 NLT (God’s Anger at Sin)
21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship Him as God or even give Him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.
22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.
23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-Living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.
25 They traded the Truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of The Creator Himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
26 That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other.
27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

Romans 6:12 KJV
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Romans 7:5,23 NLT
5 When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and The Law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death.
23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.

Romans 13:14 KJV
But put ye on The Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

I Corinthians 6:9,10 NLT
9 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,
10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.

I Corinthians  9:27 NLT
I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

I Corinthians 10:1-6 NLT (Lessons from Israel’s Idolatry)
1 I don’t want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, about our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. All of them were guided by a cloud that moved ahead of them, and all of them walked through the sea on dry ground.
2 In the cloud and in the sea, all of them were baptized as followers of Moses.
3 All of them ate the same spiritual food,
4 and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from The Spiritual Rock that traveled with them, and that Rock was Christ.
5 Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
6 These things happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave evil things as they did,

Galatians 5:16,17 NLT (Living by The Spirit’s Power)
16 So I say, let The Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.
17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what The Spirit wants. And The Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

Ephesians 2:5-7 NLT (Made Alive with Christ)
1 Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins.
2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.
3 All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
4 But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much,
5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
6 For He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all He has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 4:17-32 NLT (Living as Children of Light)
17 With The Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.
18 Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against Him.
19 They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
20 But that isn’t what you learned about Christ.
21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned The Truth that comes from Him,
22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.
23 Instead, let The Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.
24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors The Truth, for we are all parts of the same body.
26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,
27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.
29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, He has identified you as His own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.
32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Colossians 3:5 NLT
So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

I Thessalonians 4:3-7 NLT
3 God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.
4 Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor—
5 not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and His ways.
6 Never harm or cheat a fellow believer in this matter by violating his wife, for The Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before.
7 God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives.

I Timothy 3:3 NLT (Leaders in the Church)
He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money.

I Timothy 6:9 NLT
But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.

II Timothy 2:22 NLT
Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on The Lord with pure hearts.

II Timothy 4:1-4 NLT
1 I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when He comes to set up His Kingdom:
2 Preach The Word Of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.
4 They will reject the Truth and chase after myths.

Titus 2:11,12 KJV
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly, in this present world;

Titus 3:3-7 NLT
3 Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.
4 But— When God our Savior revealed His kindness and love,
5 He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through The Holy Spirit.
6 He generously poured out The Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
7 Because of His grace He made us right in His sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.

James 1:14,15 KJV
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

I Peter 2:11 KJV
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

I Peter 4:3 NLT
You have had enough in the past of the evil things that Godless people enjoy—their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols.

II Peter 1:4 KJV
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

II Peter 2:14-18 NLT
14 They commit adultery with their eyes, and their desire for sin is never satisfied. They lure unstable people into sin, and they are well trained in greed. They live under God’s curse.
15 They have wandered off the right road and followed the footsteps of Balaam son of Beor, who loved to earn money by doing wrong.
16 But Balaam was stopped from his mad course when his donkey rebuked him with a human voice.
17 These people are as useless as dried-up springs or as mist blown away by the wind. They are doomed to blackest darkness.
18 They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception.

I John 2:16,17 KJV
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of The Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Prayer:

Psalm 51:10 KJV
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Matthew 5:8 KJV
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Philippians 4:8 NLT
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Bible Lesson: Marks Of Godly Character Versus Marks Of Non-Christian Character: Patriotism Versus Treason.

Bible Texts:

Patriotism:

Romans 13:1-7 NLT (Respect for Authority)
1 Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.
2 So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.
3 For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you.
4 The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong.
5 So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience.

6 Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do.
7 Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.

Treason:

I Kings 16:19,20 NLT
19 For he, too, had done what was evil in The Lord’s sight. He followed the example of Jeroboam in all the sins he had committed and led Israel to commit.
20 The rest of the events in Zimri’s reign and his conspiracy are recorded in The Book of the History of the Kings of Israel.

The Word, Patriotism:

I Kings 5:4 NLT
But now The Lord my God has given me peace on every side; I have no enemies, and all is well.

II Chronicles 7:14 KJV
If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Psalm 33:12-22 KJV
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is The Lord; and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance.
13 The Lord looketh from heaven; He beholdeth all the sons of men.
14 From the place of His habitation He looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.
15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; He considereth all their works.
16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
18 Behold, the eye of The Lord is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy;
19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Our soul waiteth for The Lord: He is our Help and our Shield.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His Holy Name.
22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Psalm 108:12,13 NLT
12 Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless.
13 With God’s help we will do mighty things, for He will trample down our foes.

Proverbs 14:34 KJV
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Proverbs 24:21 NLT
My child, fear The Lord and the king. Don’t associate with rebels,

Proverbs 28:2 NLT
When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily.  But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability.

Proverbs 29:8 NLT
Mockers can get a whole town agitated, but the wise will calm anger.

Isaiah 2:4 KJV
And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Matthew 22:37-40 KJV
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love The Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all The Law And the Prophets.

Matthew 24:6 KJV
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Mark 12:17 KJV
And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at Him.

Luke 19:41 KJV
And when He was come near, He beheld the city, and wept over it,

Luke 21:36 KJV
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before The Son Of Man.

John 15:13 KJV
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

John 18:36 KJV
Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, My followers would fight to keep Me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But My Kingdom is not of this world.”

Acts 5:29 KJV
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Romans 2:11 KJV
For there is no respect of persons with God.

II Corinthians 3:17 KJV
Now The Lord is that Spirit: and where The Spirit Of The Lord is, there is liberty.

Philippians 3:20 KJV
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for The Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ:

I Timothy 2:1-3 KJV
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all Godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;

Titus 3:1 NLT
Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good.

Hebrews 11:13-16 KJV
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city.

I Peter 2:9,10,16,17 KJV
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

I John 3:14-16 KJV
14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

The Word, Treason:

Proverbs 28:2 NLT
When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability.

Proverbs 29:8 NLT
Mockers can get a whole town agitated, but the wise will calm anger.

Matthew 27:11,27-30 NLT (Jesus’ Trial before Pilate)
Now Jesus was standing before Pilate, the Roman governor. “Are you The King Of The Jews?” the governor asked Him. Jesus replied, “You have said it.”
The Soldiers Mock Jesus
27 Some of the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into their headquarters and called out the entire regiment.
28 They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him.
29 They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on His head, and they placed a reed stick in His right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before Him in mockery and taunted, “Hail! King Of The Jews!”
30 And they spit on Him and grabbed the stick and struck Him on the head with it.

Luke 13:34 NLT
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let Me.

Luke 23:2,3 NLT
2 They began to state their case: “This Man has been leading our people astray by telling them not to pay their taxes to the Roman government and by claiming He is The Messiah, A King.”
3 So Pilate asked him, “Are you The King Of The Jews?” Jesus replied, “You have said it.”

John 19:12-15 NLT
12 Then Pilate tried to release Him, but the Jewish leaders shouted, “If you release this Man, you are no ‘friend of Caesar.’ Anyone who declares himself A King is a rebel against Caesar.”
13 When they said this, Pilate brought Jesus out to them again. Then Pilate sat down on the judgment seat on the platform that is called the Stone Pavement (in Hebrew, Gabbatha).
14 It was now about noon on the day of preparation for the Passover. And Pilate said to the people, “Look, here is your King!”
15 “Away with Him,” they yelled. “Away with Him! Crucify Him!”
“What? Crucify your King?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the leading priests shouted back.

Acts 17:7 NLT
And Jason has welcomed them into his home. They are all guilty of treason against Caesar, for they profess allegiance to another King, named Jesus.”

Prayer:

Ephesians 6:12 NLT
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Bible Questions Answered:
“I want to be used of God, but I don't know what to do....”
Randy/  Glendale, Arizona  U.S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

Pray and ask The Lord, to reveal to you, just what your spiritual gifts are. They will be things that you like doing, and have a talent for.

I Corinthians 12:1-11 KJV (Nine-Spiritual Gifts)
1 Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about the special abilities The Spirit gives us. I don’t want you to misunderstand this.
2 You know that when you were still pagans, you were led astray and swept along in worshiping speechless idols.
3 So I want you to know that no one speaking by The Spirit Of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by The Holy Spirit.

4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all.
5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord.
6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.

7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.
8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge.
9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing.
10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy.
He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from The Spirit Of God or from another spirit.
Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given
the ability to interpret what is being said.
11 It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

Romans 12:6-8 NLT
6 In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.
7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well.
8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

I Peter 4:10-11 NLT
10 God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
11 Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God Himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to Him forever and ever! Amen.

Spiritual Gifts, The Word:

Romans 1:11 NLT
For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in The Lord.

I Corinthians 12:27-30 NLT
27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
28 Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church:

first are apostles,
second are prophets,
third are teachers,
then those who do miracles,
those who have the gift of healing,
those who can help others,
those who have the gift of leadership,
those who speak in unknown languages.

29 Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles?
30 Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course not!

I Corinthians 13:1-3 NLT
13 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.
3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

Ephesians 4:11-16 NLT
11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.
12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in The Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like The Truth.
15 Instead, we will speak The Truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of His body, the church.
16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

I Timothy 4:14 NLT
Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you.

II Timothy 1:6 NLT
This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.

Every Christian has been given spiritual gifts from The Holy Spirit. Find out what your gifts are and use them for the glory of God.

I Corinthians 14:12 NLT
And the same is true for you. Since you are so eager to have the special abilities The Spirit gives, seek those that will strengthen the whole church.

Prayer:

Acts 1:8 KJV
But ye shall receive power, after that The Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Intercession: Entreaty in favor of another, especially a prayer or petition to God in behalf of another.
TheFreeDictionary.Com

As Christians, we should want to pray for others. One reason we came to The Lord, is no doubt  the answer to the prayers  of others, who took the time to pray for us!

Intercession For Others, The Word:

Job 42:10 KJV
When Job prayed for his friends, The Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, The Lord gave him twice as much as before!

Matthew 5:44 KJV
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

And The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But The Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

Romans 12:12 KJV
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

II Corinthians 1:11 NLT
And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.

Ephesians 6:18 KJV
Pray in The Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Philippians 1:18-21 KJV
18 But that doesn’t matter. Whether their motives are false or genuine, the message about Christ is being preached either way, so I rejoice. And I will continue to rejoice.
19 For I know that as you pray for me and The Spirit Of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.
20 For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die.

Colossians 4:2-4 NLT
2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.
3 Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about His mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains.
4 Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.

I Timothy 2:1,2 KJV
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all Godliness and honesty.

Hebrews 7:24,25 KJV
24 But this Man (The resurrected Lord Jesus), because He continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
25 Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.

James 5:16 KJV
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

As Christians, we should always be praying!

I Thessalonians 5:17,18 KJV
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

It sure isn't  hard to come up with a list of people to pray for. Pray for your parents, and siblings. Pray for your spouse, brothers, sisters, and inlaws. Pray for your Pastor,  and church, community leaders, law enforcement officers, teachers, government officials from the top down.

Romans 13:1 KJV
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Pray for  your employer, pray for those who you know, who do not know The Lord. Etc. etc. etc.

Luke 11:1 KJV
"...Lord, teach us to pray..."

Prayer:

John 17:1-26 NLT (The Prayer of Jesus)
1 After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said,
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so He can give glory back to you.
2 For you have given Him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given Him.
3 And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
4 I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave Me to do.
5 Now, Father, bring Me into the glory we shared before the world began.

6 “I have revealed you to the ones you gave Me from this world. They were always yours. You gave them to Me, and they have kept your Word.
7 Now they know that everything I have is A Gift from you,
8 for I have passed on to them the message you gave Me. They accepted it and know that I came from You, and they believe You sent Me.

9 “My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given Me, because they belong to you.
10 All who are Mine belong to You, and You have given them to Me, so they bring Me glory.
11 Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to You. Holy Father, You have given Me Your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as We are.
12 During My time here, I protected them by the power of the name you gave Me. I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as The Scriptures foretold.

13 “Now I am coming to You. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with My joy.
14 I have given them your Word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.
15 I’m not asking You to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.
16 They do not belong to this world any more than I do.
17 Make them holy by your Truth; teach them your Word, which is Truth.
18 Just as You sent Me into the world, I am sending them into the world.
19 And I give Myself as a Holy Sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your Truth.

20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in Me through their message.
21 I pray that they will all be one, just as You and I are one—as You are in Me, Father, and I am in You. And may they be in Us so that the world will believe You sent Me.

22 “I have given them the glory you gave Me, so they may be one as we are one.
23 I am in them and You are in Me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that You sent Me and that You love them as much as You love Me.
24 Father, I want these whom You have given Me to be with Me where I am. Then they can see all the glory You gave Me because You loved Me even before the world began!

25 “O Righteous Father, the world doesn’t know You, but I do; and these disciples know You sent Me. 26 I have revealed You to them, and I will continue to do s+o. Then your love for Me will be in them, and I will be in them.”

Bible Lesson: Marks Of Godly Character Versus Marks Of Non-Christian Character: Patience Versus Impatience.

Bible Texts:

Patience:

Luke 8:15 KJV
But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard The Word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Romans 12:12 KJV
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Impatience:

I Samuel 13:7-14 NLT (Saul’s Disobedience and Samuel’s Rebuke)
7...Meanwhile, Saul stayed at Gilgal, and his men were trembling with fear.
8 Saul waited there seven days for Samuel, as Samuel had instructed him earlier, but Samuel still didn’t come. Saul realized that his troops were rapidly slipping away.
9 So he demanded, “Bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings!” And Saul sacrificed the burnt offering himself.

10 Just as Saul was finishing with the burnt offering, Samuel arrived. Saul went out to meet and welcome him,
11 but Samuel said, “What is this you have done?”

Saul replied, “I saw my men scattering from me, and you didn’t arrive when you said you would, and the Philistines are at Micmash ready for battle.
12 So I said, ‘The Philistines are ready to march against us at Gilgal, and I haven’t even asked for The Lord’s help!’ So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering myself before you came.”

13 “How foolish!” Samuel exclaimed. “You have not kept the command The Lord your God gave you. Had you kept it, The Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.
14 But now your kingdom must end, for The Lord has sought out a man after His own heart. The Lord has already appointed him to be the leader of His people, because you have not kept The Lord’s command.”

Luke 9:52-54 KJV
52 And sent messengers before His face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for Him.
53 And they did not receive Him, because His face was as though He would go to Jerusalem.
54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

The Word; Patience:

Psalm 37:7 KJV
Rest in The Lord, and wait patiently for Him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Proverbs 15:18 NLT
A hot-tempered person starts fights; a cool-tempered person stops them.

Isaiah 40:31 KJV
But they that wait upon The Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Luke 8:15 KJV
But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard The Word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Romans 5:3,4 NLT
3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.
4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.

Romans 8:25 NLT
But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)

Romans 12:12 KJV
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Galatians 5:22,23 NLT
22 But The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Colossians 3:12 NLT
Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Hebrews 6:12-15 KJV
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no greater, He swore by Himself,
14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

James 1:2-4,19 KJV
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

James 5:7,8 KJV
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of The Lord. Behold, The Husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until He receive the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of The Lord draweth nigh.

The Word, Impatience:

Genesis 25:29-34 NLT
29 One day when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau arrived home from the wilderness exhausted and hungry.
30 Esau said to Jacob, “I’m starved! Give me some of that red stew!” (This is how Esau got his other name, Edom, which means “red.”)
31 “All right,” Jacob replied, “but trade me your rights as the firstborn son.”
32 “Look, I’m dying of starvation!” said Esau. “What good is my birthright to me now?”
33 But Jacob said, “First you must swear that your birthright is mine.” So Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his brother, Jacob.
34 Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew. Esau ate the meal, then got up and left. He showed contempt for his rights as the firstborn.

Exodus 32:1`KJV
And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

Numbers 21:4 NLT
Then the people of Israel set out from Mount Hor, taking the road to the Red Sea to go around the land of Edom. But the people grew impatient with the long journey,

Job 2:7-9 NLT
7 So Satan left The Lord’s presence, and he struck Job with terrible boils from head to foot.
8 Job scraped his skin with a piece of broken pottery as he sat among the ashes.
9 His wife said to him, “Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die.”

Psalm 106:13 KJV
They soon forgot His works; they waited not for His counsel:

Jonah 4:8,9 NLT
8 And as the sun grew hot, God arranged for a scorching east wind to blow on Jonah. The sun beat down on his head until he grew faint and wished to die. “Death is certainly better than living like this!” he exclaimed.
9 Then God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry because the plant died?” “Yes,” Jonah retorted, “even angry enough to die!”
Luke 10:40 KJV
But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to Him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

Prayer:

Galatians 6:9 KJV
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
