Bible Questions Answered:

“Pastor, we know you've been busy with important things, and we all are praying for you, but  should you have the time, our group is pondering the following question “Why are there so many different kinds of churches, when there is only one Bible?” Thank you and remember you are in our thoughts and prayers!”

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

After having been evangelized, people of many other countries have come to America and made the very same observation. “Why are  there so many different churches in America?”

Illustration:

An interesting experiment is, a group of 10 people are given a short story and told to pass it on to the next person in succession. By the time the 10th person hears and tells the story, it's a different story, every time!

Each person has added to or taken away something.

This is why dear friend, we must be “daily-students,” of The Bible!

Acts 17:10,11  KJV

10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.                                                                                                          11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Interpretation of Scripture should not be based upon individual interpretation, but upon other scriptures-

Isaiah 28:9,10 KJV                                                                                                                                     9 Whom shall He teach knowledge? and whom shall He make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.                                                                                     10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

“ Church Divisions  “

So, we have divisions due to “lack of Biblical knowledge”, and we have divisions due to “personal predispositions”.

If a young person grew up in a home of wealth, whose  parents taught “We can have the best because we work for it.” and who lived to make wealth, for that person to believe and one day teach, if in the ministry,  that we enter heaven by our works, is understood by his own personal beliefs, and “not,”

The Word Of God.

Isaiah 64:6 KJV                                                                                                                                        But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Romans 3:20 KJV                                                                                                                                Therefore by the deeds of The Law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by The Law is the knowledge of sin.

Ephesians 2:8,9 KJV                                                                                                                                    8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is The Gift Of God:                    9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Titus 3:4,5 KJV                                                                                                                                          4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared,                                       5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

This is but one example of “Predisposition.

Another example might be of someone who grew up in  a home of accepted social drinking.  If one day in ministry a child of such a home would be more than tempted to deny the scriptures warning of the dangers of drink, and exclude any referring to them, while accepting any and all social drinking etc.

The Word:

Proverbs 20:1 KJV                                                                                                                              Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Proverbs 21:17 KJV                                                                                                                                He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

Proverbs 23:20 NLT                                                                                                                                Do not carouse with drunkards or feast with gluttons,

Habakkuk 2:15,16 NLT                                                                                                                           15 “What sorrow awaits you who make your neighbors drunk! You force your cup on them so you can gloat over their shameful nakedness.                                                                                                             16 But soon it will be your turn to be disgraced. Come, drink and be exposed! Drink from the cup of The Lord’s judgment, and all your glory will be turned to shame.

Romans 13:13 KJV                                                                                                                                 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

Romans 14:20,21 NLT                                                                                                                             20 Don’t tear apart the work of God over what you eat. Remember, all foods are acceptable, but it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble.                                                                     21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble.

I Corinthians 6:10,12 KJV                                                                                                                         10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Galatians 5:1,21 KJV

1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 5:18 KJV                                                                                                                              And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

I Peter 4:3,4 KJV

3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

I Timothy 3:2-4 KJV

2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

The Word of God is the same truth for one and all, only humanity and it's sinful appetites get in the way.

John 8:31,32 KJV

31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, If ye continue in My Word, then are ye My disciples indeed;

32 And ye shall know The Truth, and The Truth shall make you free.

John 17:17 KJV

Sanctify them through thy Truth: thy Word is Truth.

Prayer:

II Corinthians 13:14 KJV

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
