Envy

Bible Questions Answered:
“...you talk about the blessed, every time I look its those who don't believe in God that's whos blessed...”
Pete/ Richmond, British Columbia Canada

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

Right now, is the only heaven, sinners will ever have, and it will all come crashing down, one day.

Psalm 73:1-28 NLT (A psalm of Asaph)
1 Truly God is good to Israel, to those whose hearts are pure.
2 But as for me, I almost lost my footing. My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone.
3 For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.
4 They seem to live such painless lives; their bodies are so healthy and strong.
5 They don’t have troubles like other people; they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else.
6 They wear pride like a jeweled necklace and clothe themselves with cruelty.
7 These fat cats have everything their hearts could ever wish for!
8 They scoff and speak only evil; in their pride they seek to crush others.
9 They boast against the very heavens, and their words strut throughout the earth.
10 And so the people are dismayed and confused, drinking in all their words.
11 “What does God know?” they ask. “Does the Most High even know what’s happening?”
12 Look at these wicked people— enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply.
13 Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep myself innocent for no reason?
14 I get nothing but trouble all day long every morning brings me pain.
15 If I had really spoken this way to others, I would have been a traitor to your people.
16 So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper. But what a difficult task it is!

17 Then I went into your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked.
18 Truly, you put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction.
19 In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors.
20 When you arise, O Lord, you will laugh at their silly ideas as a person laughs at dreams in the morning.
21 Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside.
22 I was so foolish and ignorant— I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you.
23 Yet I still belong to you; you hold my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth.
26 My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever.
27 Those who desert Him will perish, for you destroy those who abandon you.
28 But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made The Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.

Envy is a sin, for It is dissatisfaction, in face, of all the blessings our Lords, daily loads us with.

Psalm 68:19 KJV
Blessed be The Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even The God Of Our Salvation. Selah.

Psalm 103:2 KJV
Bless The Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:

Psalm 116:12 KJV
What shall I render unto The Lord for all His benefits toward me?

Envy:

Proverbs 3:31 KJV
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

Proverbs 23:17 KJV
Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of The Lord all the day long.

Proverbs 24:1,19,20 KJV
1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked:
20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

I Corinthians 13:4 KJV
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

II Corinthians 12:20 KJV
For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

Galatians 5:21,26 KJV
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Titus 3:3 KJV
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

James 4:5 KJV
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

Illustration:

Dwight L. Moody once told the fable of an eagle who was envious of another that could fly better than he could.

One day the bird saw a sportsman with a bow and arrow and said to him, “I wish you would bring down that eagle up there.”

The man said he would if he had some feathers for his arrow. So the jealous eagle pulled out one of his own feathers from his wing.

The arrow was shot, but it didn’t quite reach the rival bird because he was flying too high.

The first eagle pulled out another feather, then another—until he had lost so many feathers that he himself couldn’t fly.

The archer took advantage of the situation, turned around, and killed the helpless bird.

Moody said: if you are envious of others, the one you will hurt the most by your actions will be yourself.

Prayer:

II Peter 3:9 KJV
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to
us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

I John 1:8-10 KJV
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and The Truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is Faithful and Just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.

John 1;12,13 KJV
12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Sin

Bible Questions Answered:
“I don't understand this sin thing....”
Roshan/ Hyderabad Telangana, India

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

Sin:
An offense against religious or moral law
Merriam-Webster

Transgression of divine law:
Dictionary.Com

It is The Living God, that emanates righteousness, and moral laws, and by so doing, makes clear the characteristics of sin.

I Peter 1:15,16 KJV
15 But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Morals:
Of or relating to principles of right and wrong in behavior
Merriam-Webster

Of, relating to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong
Dictionary.com

Righteousness, and morals come from God, and sin is the lack of those standards.

Romans 3:23 KJV
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

I John 3:4 NLT
Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.

The devil tempted Eve, and she sinned, eating of the forbidden fruit in the garden.

Genesis 3:1-5 KJV
1 Now the serpent was more subtil (the shrewdest-NLT) than any beast of the field which The Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

The Disobedience of Adam:

Genesis 3:6,11,12 KJV
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
11 And He said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

Psalm 51:5 KJV
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Romans 5:12 KJV
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Man cannot free himself from sin:

Proverbs 20:9 KJV
Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Thee only remedy for sin:

John 3:16,17 KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His
Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

Romans 5:12,15-21 NLT (Adam and Christ Contrasted)
12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.
15 "...there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s Gracious Gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His Gift of forgiveness to many through this other Man, Jesus Christ.
16 And the result of God’s Gracious Gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s Free Gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.
17 For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His Gift Of Righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one Man, Jesus Christ.
18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new Life for everyone.
19 Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
20 God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.
21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Romans 6:23 KJV
For the wages of sin is death; but The Gift Of God is eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Judgment for sin:

Revelation 20:11-15 KJV
11 And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of Life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Prayer:

Nehemiah 9:17 KJV
"...but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness..."

Psalm 86:5 KJV
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

Isaiah 1:18 KJV
Come now, and let us reason together, saith The Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

John 6:37,40,47 KJV
37 “...him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.”
40 And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth The Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting Life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me hath everlasting life.

Ephesians 1:7 KJV
In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace;

Malachi 3:7-12 KJV
7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from Mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith The Lord Of Hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed Me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed Me, even this whole nation.
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in Mine house, and prove Me now herewith, saith
The Lord Of Hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith
The Lord Of Hosts.
12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith The Lord Of Hosts.

Matthew 5:45-48 KJV
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 10:42 KJV
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Matthew 25:32-40 KJV
32 And before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another, as A Shepherd divideth His sheep from the goats:
33 And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall The King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungered, and ye gave Me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave Me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took Me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed Me: I was sick, and ye visited Me: I was in prison, and ye came unto Me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And The King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto me. (Read the rest of the story...verses 41-46)

Mark 12:41-44 NLT
41 Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts.
42 Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins.
43 Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I tell you
The Truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions.
44 For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.”

Luke 6:33-38 KJV
33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of The Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Luke 14:12-14 NLT
12 Then He turned to His host. “When you put on a luncheon or a banquet,” He said, “don’t invite your friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors. For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward.
13 Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.
14 Then at the resurrection of the righteous, God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you.”

II Corinthians 8:1-3 NLT
1 Now I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters, what God in His kindness has done through the churches in Macedonia.
2 They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.
3 For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will.
4 They begged us again and again for the privilege of sharing in the gift for the believers in Jerusalem.
5 They even did more than we had hoped, for their first action was to give themselves to The Lord and to us, just as God wanted them to do.

II Corinthians 9:6-9 KJV
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; He hath given to the poor: His righteousness remaineth for ever.

Galatians 6:8-10 KJV
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to The Spirit shall of The Spirit reap Life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

I Timothy 6:17-19 KJV
17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in
The Living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Hebrew 6:10 KJV
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have shewed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Giving And Taking

Who gives and hides the giving hand,
Nor counts on favor, fame, or praise,
Shall find his smallest gift outweighs
The burden of the sea and land.

Who gives to whom hath naught been given,
His gift in need, though small indeed
As is the grass-blade's wind-blown seed,
Is large as earth and rich as heaven.

John Greenleaf Whittier

Give of Your Best to the Master

Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth;
Throw your soul’s fresh, glowing ardor
Into the battle for truth.
Jesus has set the example,
Dauntless was He, young and brave;
Give Him your loyal devotion;
Give Him the best that you have.

Refrain:
Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth;
Clad in salvation’s full armor,
Join in the battle for truth.

Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart;
Give Him first place in your service;
Consecrate every part.
Give, and to you will be given;
God His beloved Son gave;
Gratefully seeking to serve Him,
Give Him the best that you have.

Give of your best to the Master;
Naught else is worthy His love;
He gave Himself for your ransom,
Gave up His glory above.
Laid down His life without murmur,
You from sin’s ruin to save;
Give Him your heart’s adoration;
Give Him the best that you have.

Romans 5:7,8 KJV
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

John 3:16,17,36 KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
36 He that believeth on The Son hath everlasting Life: and he that believeth not The Son shall not see Life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

We are not saved by our works.

Ephesians 2:8,9 KJV
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is The Gift Of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Concerning Christian works, it is not a question of whether or not we have done the best we can, but rather have we been obedient to the whole council of God.

All the commands of our Lord, are more than possible to lived by or they would not have been given.

Godly Obedience:

Deuteronomy 26:16 KJV
This day The Lord thy God hath commanded thee to do these statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.

Joshua 1:8 KJV
This book of The Law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

I Samuel 15:22 KJV
And Samuel said, Hath The Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of The Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

Matthew 7:21,24 -27KJV
21 Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of Mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: (verses 24-27)
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon A Rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of Mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Matthew 12:50 KJV
For whosoever shall do the will of My Father which is in heaven, the same is My brother, and sister, and mother.

John 7:17 KJV
If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of Myself.

John 15:10 KJV
If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love.

Acts 5:29 KJV
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Romans 5:19 KJV
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One shall many be made righteous.

Hebrews 10:9 KJV
Then said He, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that He may establish the second.

Obedient To The Lord:

Noah
Genesis 6:22 KJV
Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

Abraham
Genesis 22:2,3 KJV
2 And He said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave (split NKJV) the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

Bezaleel
Exodus 36:1 KJV
Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom The Lord put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that The Lord had commanded.

Joshua
Joshua 11:15 KJV
As The Lord commanded Moses His servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that The Lord commanded Moses.

Hezekiah
II Kings 18:6 KJV
For he clave (held fast – NKJV) to The Lord, and departed not from following Him, but kept His commandments, which The Lord commanded Moses.

Joseph and Mary
Luke 2:39 KJV
And when they had performed all things according to
The Law Of The Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

Paul
Acts 26:19 KJV
Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:

Jesus Christ
Hebrews 5:8 KJV
Though He were A Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered;

On Mount Sinai, The Lord told Moses...

Exodus 20:6 NLT
"...obey My commands

The Lord Jesus tells us...

Matthew 10:38 KJV
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me.

Mark 8:34 KJV
And when He had called the people unto Him with His disciples also, He said unto them, Whosoever will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Luke 9:23 KJV
And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up His cross daily, and follow Me.

There is “no,” substitute for obedience.

Disobedience:
Deuteronomy 11:28 KJV
And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of
The Lord Your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

I Samuel 12:15 KJV
But if ye will not obey the voice of The Lord, but rebel against the commandment of The Lord, then shall the hand of The Lord be against you, as it was against your fathers.

Ephesians 5:26 KJV
Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

II Thessalonians 1:8 KJV
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not
The Gospel Of Our Lord Jesus Christ:

Hebrews 2:2,3 KJV
2 For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by The Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard Him;

Dear friends, whatever we do, let us always follow our Lord's example...

John 14:21,2331 KJV
21 He that hath My commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him.
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love Me, he will keep My Words: and My Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
31 But that the world may know that I love The Father; and as The Father gave Me commandment, even so I do...”

Prayer:

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
28 Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

I John 5:1 NLT
Everyone who believes that Jesus is The Christ has become a child of God..."

Prayer Answered To One's Own Harm

Bible Questions Answered:
“...thank God he answers all prayers...”
Birger/ Angelholm, Skane County Sweden

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

Isaiah 55:8,9 KJV
8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith The Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

...thank God he answers all prayers...”

Question: Is this good?
Answer: No.

Beloved James our Lord's brother wrote saying....

James 3:1 KJV
My brethren, be not many masters (Teachers - NKJV), knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

This brethren, is why, only the following, should teach The Word Of God.

  1. Those who are “called of God”, the ministry “is not a profession!”
  2. Those who are educated in The Word Of God.
  3. Those men who are “given,” to prayer and who seek with all their heart, God's Truth.

No, it is not good that all prayers have been answered.
Well Pastor, the prayers wouldn't have been answered if they weren't good.”

Acts 17:10,11 KJV
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received The Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Question: Has God, and would He ever, answer prayers, that are not, His will?
Answer: Yes!

Example 1:

No matter what The Lord did for Israel, they forgot it, complained,  doubted and tempted The Living God.

Psalm 106:10-15 KJV (Read the whole chapter 1-48)
10 And He saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy (The Egyptians).
11 And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
12 Then believed they His words; they sang His praise.
13 They soon forgot His works; they waited not for His counsel:
14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
15 And He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

They demanded, water, food, and meat, not trusting The Lord.

Water, Manna, and Quails given: Exodus 15;22-24/ 16; 17:2/ Numbers 11

The thing to note here is verse 15 “He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.”
Yes, they received their requests, but they had no relationship with The God of all creation, but rather fell under judgment.

Example 2:

King Hezekiah, was a Godly king who restored sacrifices at the temple, and Passover.

II Kings 20:1-6 KJV
1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith The Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.

2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto The Lord, saying,
3 I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

4 And it came to pass, afore (before) Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that The Word Of The Lord came to him, saying,
5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of My people, Thus saith The Lord, The God Of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of The Lord.
6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for Mine own sake, and for My servant David's sake.

What was the will of God for King Hezekiah?
Thus saith The Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.”

The King did not like that message, no matter who it was from! So ...
2 “...he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto The Lord, saying,
3 I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

Refusing The Lord's message, he pouted and wept, listing all the good things he had done.

Well, what happened? The Lord, had a new message for Hezekiah. (He let him have his way.)

4 And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that The Word Of The Lord came to him, saying,
5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of My people, Thus saith The Lord, The God Of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of The Lord.
6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for Mine own sake, and for My servant David's sake.

Hezekiah was healed, and fifteen years added to his life.

This certainly begs the question, just what happen in those 15 added years?

II Kings 20:12-17 KJV (A Kings Pride)
12 At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
13 And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

14 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
15 And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

16 And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear The Word Of The Lord.
17 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith The Lord.

What else did Hezekiah do?

He fathered a son named Manasseh. Manasseh was one of Israel's most ungodly king, who made Israel to sin!

These are but two examples of prayers answered, that would have been better, if never prayed.

Psalm 106:15 KJV
And He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

Do you think possibly, that the God who knows the future as well as the past, tried to keep King Hezekiah from such a ruined legacy??

Isaiah 46:9,10 KJV
9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure:

What do you think is the import of these examples? It is to remind us that in prayer it is so important to know that ….

  1. What we pray for is within the bounds of thus saith The Lord. (Acts 17:10,11)
  2. What we desire in prayer, first and foremost, is The Lord's will, and not of our own selfishness.
  3. What we pray for, is for the glory of God.

James 4:3 KJV
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Prayer:

II Samuel 22:31 KJV
As for God, His way is perfect; The Word Of The Lord is tried: He is a Buckler (Shield) to all them that trust in Him.

Job 13:15 KJV
Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him..."

Psalm 5:11 KJV
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

Bible Lesson: Cherished Promises To The Child Of God: To The Believer.

Bible Lesson: Cherished Promises To The Child Of God: To The Believer.

Bible Text:

John 6:47 KJV
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me hath everlasting life.

The Lord's Request:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me...”

The Lord's Promise:

... hath everlasting life.”

The Word:

John 3:15,16 KJV
15That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting Life.

John 5:28,29.39 KJV
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of Life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
39 Search The Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal Life: and they are they which testify of Me.

John 6:27,40,47,54,68 KJV
27 Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting Life, which The Son Of Man shall give unto you: for Him hath God The Father sealed.
40 And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth The Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting Life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me hath everlasting Life.
54 Whoso eateth My flesh, and drinketh My blood, hath eternal Life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
68 Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal Life.

John 11:25,26 KJV
25 Jesus said unto her, I am The Resurrection, And the Life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?

John 12:49,50 KJV
49 For I have not spoken of Myself; but The Father which sent Me, He gave Me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
50 And I know that His commandment is Life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as The Father said unto Me, so I speak.

John 17:1-3 KJV
1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal Life to as many as thou hast given Him.
3 And this is Life eternal, that they might know thee The Only True God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Romans 2:7 NLT
He will give eternal Life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

Romans 5:20,21 NLT
20 God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.
21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal Life through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Romans 6:23 KJV
For the wages of sin is death; but The Gift Of God is eternal Life through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Romans 8:11 KJV
But if The Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.

I Corinthians 15:51-57 KJV
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

II Corinthians 5:1 NLT
For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God Himself and not by human hands.

Galatians 6:8 KJV
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to The Spirit shall of The Spirit reap Life everlasting.

I Thessalonians 4:13-18 NLT
13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.
14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to Life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with Him the believers who have died.
15 We tell you this directly from The Lord: We who are still living when The Lord returns will not meet Him ahead of those who have died.
16 For The Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves.
17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet The Lord in the air. Then we will be with The Lord forever.
18 So encourage each other with these words.

I Timothy 1:15-17 NLT
15 This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all.
16 But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of His great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in Him and receive eternal Life.
17 All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is The Eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; He alone is God. Amen.

I Timothy 6:12,19 KJV
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

I John 1:2 NLT
This One who is Life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen Him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that He is The One who is eternal Life. He was with The Father, and then He was revealed to us.

I John 2:25 KJV
And this is the promise that He hath promised us, even eternal Life.

I John 5:11-13,20 KJV
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal Life, and this Life is in His Son.
12 He that hath The Son hath Life; and he that hath not The Son Of God hath not Life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of The Son Of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal Life, and that ye may believe on the name of The Son Of God.
20 And we know that The Son Of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is True, and we are in Him that is True, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is The True God, and eternal Life.

Think of all the many things we have as Christians, and yet they would all pass away, were it not for the gift of eternal life!

Eternal Life is a gift to all who repent and forsake their sin and accept The Lord Jesus, God's Son into their lives, making Him The Master of their lives.

If people could buy eternal life, what do you think they would pay? They would be willing to pay everything they own, and yet that is impossible, for eternal life cannot be bought.

Ephesians 2:8,9 KJV
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is The Gift Of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Salvation is freely extended to all, and though it is free (a gift) it will demand of you everything.

Matthew 16:24 KJV
Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

John 10:28 KJV
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.

Dear friend, these words of Jesus are meant for you!
Call upon the Savior today, making Him The Lord and Master of your life!

Prayer:

Psalm 86:5 KJV
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
