“...so if Jesus is priest, does he
offer prayers for us?...”

Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:
The Priesthood Of Jesus Christ:
Our High Priest Was Called And
Appointed By God:
Hebrews 5:5-10 NLT
4 And no one can become a high
priest simply because he wants such an honor. He must be called by
God for this work, just as Aaron was.
5 That is why Christ did not honor
Himself by assuming He could become High Priest. No, He was chosen
by God, who said to Him, “You are My Son. Today I have become
your Father.”
6 And in another passage God said to
Him, “You are A Priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.”
7 While Jesus was here on earth, He
offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to The One
who could rescue Him from death. And God heard His prayers because of
His deep reverence for God.
8 Even though Jesus was God’s Son,
He learned obedience from the things He suffered.
9 In this way, God qualified Him
as A Perfect High Priest, and He became the source of eternal
salvation for all those who obey Him.
10 And God designated Him to be A
High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.
Our High Priest
Is Both Human And Divine:
Hebrews 2:14-18
NLT
14 Because God’s children are
human beings—made of flesh and blood—The Son also became flesh
and blood. For only as a human being could He die, and only by dying
could He break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.
15 Only in this way could He set
free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
16 We also know that The Son did not
come to help angels; He came to help the descendants of Abraham.
17 Therefore, it was necessary for
Him to be made in every respect like us, His brothers and sisters, so
that He could be our Merciful and Faithful High Priest before God.
Then He could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins
of the people.
18 Since He Himself has gone through
suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being
tested.
Our High Priest
Is Sinless:
Hebrews 7:26-28
NLT
26 He is the kind of High Priest we
need because He is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He
has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place
of honor in heaven.
27 Unlike those other high priests,
He does not need to offer sacrifices every day. They did this for
their own sins first and then for the sins of the people. But Jesus
did this once for all when He offered Himself as The Sacrifice for
the people’s sins.
28 The law appointed high priests
who were limited by human weakness. But after the law was given, God
appointed His Son with an oath, and His Son has been made
The Perfect High Priest forever.
Our High Priest,
Is An Eternal High Priest:
Hebrews 6:16-20
NLT
16 Now when people take an oath,
they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And
without any question that oath is binding.
17 God also bound Himself with an
oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure
that He would never change His mind.
18 So God has given both His promise
and His oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is
impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for
refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies
before us.
19 This hope is a strong and
trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain
into God’s inner sanctuary.
20 Jesus has already gone in there
for us. He has become our Eternal High Priest in the order of
Melchizedek.
Our High Priest,
Reigns At The Right Hand Of The Father, In Heaven.
Hebrews 8:1,2
NLT
1 Here is the main point: We have A
High Priest who sat down in the place of honor beside
The Throne Of The Majestic God in
heaven.
2 There He ministers in the heavenly
Tabernacle, the true place of worship that was built by The Lord and
not by human hands.
Our High Priest,
Offers His Own Blood, As A Sacrifice For Sin:
Hebrews 9:11-15
NLT
11 So Christ has now become The High
Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that
greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by
human hands and is not part of this created world.
12 With His own blood—not
the blood of goats and calves—He entered The Most Holy Place
once for all time and secured our redemption forever.
13 Under the old system, the blood
of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people’s
bodies from ceremonial impurity.
14 Just think how much more The
Blood Of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that
we can worship The Living God. For by the power of The Eternal
Spirit, Christ offered Himself to God as A Perfect sacrifice for our
sins.
15 That is why He is the one who
mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are
called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For
Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they
had committed under that first covenant.
Our High Priest
Intercedes For Us:
Romans 8:31-34
NLT
31 What shall we say about such
wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against
us?
32 Since He did not spare even His
own Son but gave Him up for us all, won’t He also give us
everything else?
33 Who dares accuse us whom God has
chosen for His own? No one—for God Himself has given us right
standing with Himself.
34 Who then will condemn us? No
one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and
He is sitting in The Place Of Honor At God’s Right Hand,
pleading for us.
Our High Priest
Is A Compassionate High Priest:
Hebrews 4:14-16
NLT
14 So then, since we have A Great
High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus The Son Of God, let us hold
firmly to what we believe.
15 This High Priest of ours
understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we
do, yet He did not sin.
16 So let us come boldly to the
throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we
will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Our helper, is a
merciful, faithful and holy, Eternal High Priest, who has offered His
own blood as a sacrifice for our sins. Our heavenly High Priest,
intercedes for us, so that we will receive God's mercy and grace when
we need it.
A Child of the
King
My Father is rich
in houses and lands,
He holdeth the
wealth of the world in His hands!
Of rubies and
diamonds, of silver and gold,
His coffers are
full, He has riches untold.
Refrain:
I’m a child of
The King,
A child of The
King:
With Jesus my
Savior,
I’m a child of
The King.
My Father’s own
Son, The Savior Of Men,
Once wandered on
earth as the poorest of them;
But now He is
pleading our pardon on high,
That we may be His,
when He comes by and by.
Refrain
I once was an
outcast stranger on earth,
A sinner by choice,
an alien by birth,
But I’ve been
adopted, my name’s written down,
An heir to a
mansion, a robe and a crown.
Refrain
A tent or a
cottage, why should I care?
They’re building
a palace for me over there;
Though exiled from
home, yet still may I sing:
All glory to God,
I’m a child of The King.
Refrain
