Bible Lesson: Titles Of The Church:
Church Title: Church Of God
Bible Text:
Acts 20:28 KJV
Take heed therefore unto yourselves,
and to all the flock, over the which The Holy Ghost hath made you
overseers, to feed the church* of God, which He hath purchased
with His own blood.
*Church-Greek:
Ekklesia (Ek-klay-see-ah): A calling out, religious congregation,
assembly, church.
II Corinthians
1:1 KJV
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by
the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto
the church of God which is at
Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:
I Timothy 3:5
KJV
(For if a man know not how to rule
his own house, how shall he take care of
the church of God?)
The Church of God,
(Ekklesia), are the called out ones of God. We have been called out
of the worlds sinful system, into God's family of believers. When we
receive The Lord Jesus, we have heard The Spirits call to become the
children of God, His called out ones.
The Church of God,
the called of God.
I Corinthians
1:2,3 KJV
2 Unto the church of God
which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified* in Christ Jesus,
called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the
name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:
3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from
God our Father, and from The Lord Jesus Christ.
*Sanctified-Greek:
Hagiazo (Hag-ee-ad-zo): To make holy, to consecrate.
Consecrate:
Set apart or dedicate to the service of God.
The Christian
Church is not a church of angels, church of heavenly saints, church
of merchandising, etc., but it is The Church Of God, a Holy Spirit, called out people.
The Church is The
Lord's .
Ephesians 5:25
KJV
"... Christ also loved the
church, and gave Himself for it;"
Acts 20:28 KJV
“...
the church of God, which He
hath purchased with His own blood.
Matthew 18:20
KJV
For where two or three are gathered
together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.
Revelation
1:12,13,20 NLT
12 When I turned to see who was
speaking to me, I saw seven gold lamp stands.
13 And standing in the middle of
the lamp stands was someone like The Son Of Man. He was wearing a
long robe with a gold sash across His chest.
20 This is the meaning of the
mystery of the seven stars you saw in My right hand and the seven
gold lamp stands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven
churches, and the seven lamp stands are the seven churches.
Revelation 2:1
NLT
Write this letter to the angel of
the church in Ephesus. This is the message from The One who holds the
seven stars in His right hand, The One who walks among the seven
gold lamp stands:
The seven stars are
The Lord's messengers in the church (their Pastors), the seven Lamp
stands, are
the seven churches.
The One who walks amidst the churches is The Lord Jesus.
Isaiah 27:3 NLT
(The planting of The Lord, and He Guards His People.)
I, The Lord, will watch over it,
watering it carefully. Day and night I will watch so no one can harm
it.
The One who walks
amidst the churches, He is The Cornerstone (The Rock) of the
church.
Matthew 16:16,18
KJV
16 And Simon Peter answered
(confessed) and said,
Thou art The Christ, The Son Of The living God.
18 And I (Jesus)
say also unto thee. upon this Rock I will build My church; and
the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Psalm 78:35 KJV
And they remembered that God
was their Rock, and The High God their Redeemer.
Psalm 98:1 KJV
O sing unto The Lord a new song; for
He hath done marvelous things: His right hand, and His holy arm, hath
gotten Him the victory.
All who confess as
did Peter, that The Lord Jesus is The Christ The Son Of The Living
God, are a part of the body of Christ, whether Jew or Gentile, slave
or free.
I Corinthians
12:27 NLT
All of you together are Christ’s
body, and each of you is a part of it.
Hebrews 10:23-25
KJV
23 Let us hold fast the profession
of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another
to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of
ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one
another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
