Children-Dedicated To The Lord
Bible Questions Answered:
“When was Jesus as a child baptized?”
Norma/ San Diego, California U.S.A.
Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:
No, Jesus was “not,”
baptized as an infant! Why should your children be?
The example of Jesus, was that as a
child, He was dedicated to The Lord.
Exodus 13:8-16 NLT
8 “On the seventh day you must
explain to your children, ‘I am celebrating what The Lord did for
me when I left Egypt.’
9 This annual festival will be a
visible sign to you, like a mark branded on your hand or your
forehead. Let it remind you always to recite this teaching of The
Lord: ‘With a strong hand, The Lord rescued you from Egypt.’
10 So observe the decree of this
festival at the appointed time each year.
11 “This is what you must do when
The Lord fulfills the promise He swore to you and to your ancestors.
When He gives you the land where the Canaanites now live,
12 you must present all firstborn
sons and firstborn male animals to The Lord, for they belong to Him.
13 A firstborn donkey may be bought back from The Lord by presenting
a lamb or young goat in its place. But if you do not buy it back, you
must break its neck. However, you must buy back every firstborn son.
14 “And in the future, your
children will ask you, ‘What does all this mean?’ Then you will
tell them, ‘With the power of His mighty hand, The Lord brought us
out of Egypt, the place of our slavery.
15 Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let
us go, so The Lord killed all the firstborn males throughout the land
of Egypt, both people and animals. That is why I now sacrifice all
the firstborn males to
The Lord—except that the firstborn
sons are always bought back.’
16 This ceremony will be like a mark
branded on your hand or your forehead. It is a reminder that the
power of The Lord’s mighty hand brought us out of Egypt.”
Luke 2:21-24 KJV
21 And when eight days were
accomplished for the circumcising of The Child, His name was called
Jesus, which was so named of the angel before He was conceived in the
womb.
22 And when the days of her
purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they
brought Him to Jerusalem, to present Him to The Lord;
23 (As it is written in the law of
The Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to
The Lord;)
24 And to offer a sacrifice
according to that which is said in the law of The Lord, A pair of
turtledoves, or two young pigeons.
Simeon, dedicated the baby Jesus to The
Lord.
Luke 2:25-38 KJV
25 And, behold, there was a man in
Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and
devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and The Holy Ghost was
upon him.
26 And it was revealed unto him by
The Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen The
Lord's Christ.
27 And he came by The Spirit into
the temple: and when the parents brought in The Child Jesus, to do
for Him after the custom of the law,
28 Then took he Him up in his
arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 Lord, now lettest thou thy
servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
30 For mine eyes have seen thy
Salvation,
31 Which thou hast prepared
before the face of all people;
32 A Light to Lighten the
Gentiles, and The Glory of thy people Israel.
33 And Joseph and his mother
marveled at those things which were spoken of Him.
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said
unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and
rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken
against;
35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce
through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be
revealed.
36 And there was one Anna, a
prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of
a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her
virginity;
37 And she was a widow of about
fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but
served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
38 And she coming in that instant
gave thanks likewise unto The Lord, and spake of Him to all them that
looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
39 And when they had performed all
things according to the law of The Lord, they returned into Galilee,
to their own city Nazareth.

13 Then cometh
Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John
forbade Him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest
thou to me?
15 And Jesus
answering said unto him, Suffer (permit) it to be so now: for thus it
becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered Him.
16 And Jesus,
when He was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo,
the heavens were opened unto Him, and He saw The Spirit Of God
descending like A Dove, and lighting upon Him:
17 And lo A
Voice from heaven, saying, This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well
pleased.
Dedication to
The Lord, the story of Hannah and Samuel:
I Samuel
1-11,26-28 KJV
1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim,
and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the
son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:
2 And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name
of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no
children.
3 And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to
sacrifice unto The Lord Of Hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli,
Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of The Lord, were there.
4 And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his
wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:
5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but
The Lord had shut up her womb.
6 And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret,
because The Lord had shut up her womb.
7 And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of The
Lord, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.
8 Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and
why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to
thee than ten sons?
9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they
had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple
of The Lord.
10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto The Lord, and
wept sore.
11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord Of Hosts, if thou wilt
indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and
not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man
child, then I will give him unto The Lord all the days of his life,
and there shall no razor come upon his head.
26 And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the
woman that stood by thee here, praying unto The Lord.
27 For this child I prayed; and The Lord hath given me my petition
which I asked of Him:
28 Therefore also I have lent him to The Lord; as long as he
liveth he shall be lent to The Lord. And he worshiped The Lord
there.
Children Are A
Gift From The Lord:
Psalm 127:3-5
NLT
3 Children are
a gift from The Lord; they are a reward from Him.
4 Children born
to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.
5 How joyful is
the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame
when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.
Parents Duty To
Train Children In Faithfulness To The Lord:
Deuteronomy
6:4-7 KJV
4 Hear, O
Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
5 And thou
shalt love The Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy
soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these
words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou
shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them
when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way,
and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Proverbs 22:6
KJV
Train up a
child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart
from it.
Ephesians 6:4
NLT
Fathers, do not
provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather,
bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from The
Lord.
Babies or young children are dedicated to The Lord. Years later as
young people, when they fully understand what baptism represents,
they are baptized unto The Lord.
