Bible Questions Answered:

For the Christian, what happens at death?...”

Jason/ Austin, Texas

Bible Answer:

For the Christian, we will forever be with the Lord!

II Corinthtians 5:8 KJV

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Stephen, was a deacon, and spiritual leader in his church. He became a marytr for his faith. When being stoned to death he cried out …..

Acts 7:59 NLT

As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

As Stephen's body was perishing, he willed his spirit, his soul to return to the Lord, who gave it.

Ecclesiastes 12:6,7 NLT

6 Yes, remember your Creator now while you are young, before the silver cord of life snaps and the golden bowl is broken. Don’t wait until the water jar is smashed at the spring and the pulley is broken at the well.

7 For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.

Philippians 1:21 KJV (Apostle Paul)

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

I Corinthians 15:51-57 NLT (Coming in a future time, could be today, are you ready?”

51 But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed!

52 It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.

53 For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.

54 Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled:

Death is swallowed up in victory.

55 O death, where is your victory?

O death, where is your sting?”

56 For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power.

57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Now this is all good news for the Christian, but to those who are lost, (never having received the Lord as their Savior), it is bad news.

Luke 16:19-31 KJV

19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented

26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

(We must of necessity, explain several thing in this story....

1) Lazarus was "not", saved because of his poverty! He was saved because he lived faithfully to the calling of his parents, who called him, Lazarus' a name that spelled out his spiritual direction. Lazarus is interpreted being...."My God Is My Helper"

2) The selfish rich man, did not get religion in hell- - THE WORK OF GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT, IS NOT IN HELL !

Why was he so concerned about his five lost brothers who had faithfully followed his example?

He knew they would all end up in hell, mocking and accusing him FOREVER AND FOR EVER!

Prayer:

Hebrews 4:7 KJV

Again, He limiteth a certain day, saying in David, Today, after so long a time; as it is said, Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.

Romans 10:13 KJV

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved
