Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:
I Peter 1:13-16 KJV
13 Wherefore
gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end
for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of
Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient
children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in
your ignorance:
15 But as He
which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of
conversation;
16 Because it
is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Luke 12:35-40
KJV
35 Let your
loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
36 And ye
yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when He will
return from the wedding; that when He cometh and knocketh, they may
open unto Him immediately.
37 Blessed are
those servants, whom The lord when He cometh shall find watching:
verily I say unto you, that He shall gird Himself, and make them to
sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
38 And if He
shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find
them so, blessed are those servants.
39 And this
know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief
would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to
be broken through.
40 Be ye
therefore ready also: for The Son Of Man cometh at an hour when ye
think not.
The Biblical expression "the loins of your mind/ or - gird up
thy loins/" refers to the tunic (robe like garment) worn by
many. If a person need great mobility, or to run, he would have to
raise up his robe, so as not to be bound, and he would do that by
raising it up (tucking it up) into his belt, this would allow greater
freedom of movement.
Girding up the loins of your mind, has reference to being prepared,
to be able to think quickly and clearly.
Hebrews 12:1,2 KJV
1 Wherefore
seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so
easily beset us, and let us run with patience
the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto
Jesus The Author And Finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was
set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set
down at the right hand of The Throne of God.
Ephesians
6:10-18 KJV
10 Finally, my
brethren, be strong in The Lord, and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the
whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of
the devil.
12 For we
wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore
take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand
therefore, having your loins girt about with (the belt of)
Truth, and having on
the
breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your
feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all,
taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to
quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take
the helmet of salvation, and The Sword Of The Spirit, which is
The Word Of God:
18 Praying
always with all prayer and supplication in The Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all
saints;
Proverbs 4:23
KJV
Keep thy
heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Romans 8:6 KJV
For to be
carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and
peace.
Philippians 2:5
KJV
Let this mind
be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Philippians 4:8
KJV
Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be
any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
