Salvation - Conditions
Bible Questions Answered:
“Pastor are there conditions for
salvation, some I've talked to say no, what does the bible say?...”
Rodney/ Tacoma, Washington U.S.A.
Bible Answer:
Yes!
Not that these conditions, give
salvation – of course not (Ephesians 2:8,9), but then again
certain conditions must accompany the seeking of The Lord and
salvation, yes.
I Peter 5:5 KJV
"...be
clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth
grace to the humble.
Acts 2:21 KJV
And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the name of The Lord
shall be saved.
Psalm 34:18 KJV
The Lord is nigh unto them that are
of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Hebrews 3:15 KJV (No
Delay)
While it is said, Today if ye
will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
II Corinthians 7:10 KJV
For Godly sorrow worketh
repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of
the world worketh death.
Matthew 4:17 KJV
From that time Jesus began to
preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at
hand.
Hosea 10:12 KJV
Sow to yourselves in
righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow (hard) ground:
for it is time to seek The Lord, till He come and rain
righteousness upon you.
Luke 13:23-30 KJV
23 Then said one unto Him, Lord, are
there few that be saved? And He said unto them,
24 Strive to enter in at the
strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and
shall not be able.
25 When once The Master Of The House
is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand
without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us;
and He shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
26 Then shall ye begin to say, We
have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our
streets.
27 But He shall say, I tell you, I
know you not whence ye are; depart from Me, all ye workers of
iniquity.
28 There shall be weeping and
gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob,
and all the prophets, in The Kingdom Of God, and you yourselves
thrust out.
29 And they shall come from the
east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and
shall sit down in The Kingdom Of God.
30 And, behold, there are last which
shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
Matthew 7:21-30 KJV
21 Not every one that saith unto Me,
Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that
doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day,
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have
cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto
them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.
John 12:26 KJV
If any man serve Me, let him follow
Me; and where I am, there shall also My servant be: if any man
serve Me, him will My Father honor.
I Peter 2:21 KJV
For even hereunto were ye called:
because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example,
that ye should follow His steps:
Luke 14:25-35 NLT
25 A large
crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them,
26 “If you
want to be My disciple, you must hate everyone else by
comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers
and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be My
disciple.
27 And if
you do not carry your own cross and follow Me, you cannot be My
disciple.
28 “But
don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin
construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see
if there is enough money to finish it?
29 Otherwise,
you might complete only the foundation before running out of money,
and then everyone would laugh at you.
30 They would
say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t
afford to finish it!’
31 “Or what
king would go to war against another king without first sitting down
with his counselors to discuss whether his army of 10,000 could
defeat the 20,000 soldiers marching against him?
32 And if he
can’t, he will send a delegation to discuss terms of peace while
the enemy is still far away.
33 So you
cannot become My disciple without giving up everything you own.
34 “Salt is
good for seasoning. But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it
salty again?
35 Flavorless
salt is good neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is
thrown away. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!”
Luke 12:22-40
KJV
22 And He said
unto His disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for
your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put
on.
23 The life is
more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
24 Consider the
ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse
nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the
fowls?
25 And which of
you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
26 If ye then
be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for
the rest?
27 Consider the
lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say
unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of
these.
28 If then God
so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is
cast into the oven; how much more will He clothe you, O ye of little
faith?
29 And seek
not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of
doubtful mind.
30 For all
these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father
knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31 But
rather seek ye The Kingdom Of God; and all these things shall be
added unto you.
32 Fear not,
little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you The
Kingdom.
33 Sell that
ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a
treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth,
neither moth corrupteth.
34 For where
your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
35 Let your
loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
36 And ye
yourselves like unto men that wait for their Lord, when He
will return from the wedding; that when He cometh and knocketh, they
may open unto Him immediately.
37 Blessed are
those servants, whom The Lord when He cometh shall find watching:
verily I say unto you, that He shall gird Himself, and make them to
sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
38 And if He
shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find
them so, blessed are those servants.
39 And this
know, that if the good man of the house had known what hour the thief
would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to
be broken through.
40 Be ye
therefore ready also: for The Son Of Man cometh at an hour when
ye think not.
Matthew 6:24 KJV
No one can serve two masters.
For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one
and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 19:16-26 KJV
16 And, behold, one came and said
unto Him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have
eternal life?
17 And He said unto him, Why callest
thou Me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou
wilt enter into Life, keep the commandments.
18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus
said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit
adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear
false witness,
19 Honor thy father and thy
mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
20 The young man saith unto Him, All
these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
(The young ruler, had mentioned the
last six of the commandments, skipping over commandments 1-4.)
1st Commandment;
Exodus 20:3 KJV
Thou shalt have no other gods before
Me.
2nd Commandment:
Exodus 20:4-6
KJV
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any
graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,
or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the
earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to
them, nor serve them: for I The Lord thy God am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third
and fourth generation of them that hate Me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands
of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.
3rd Commandment:
Exodus 20:7 KJV
Thou shalt not take the name of The
Lord thy God in vain; for The Lord will not hold him guiltless that
taketh His name in vain.
4th Commandment:
Exodus 20:8-11
KJV
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep
it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do
all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the
sabbath of The Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou,
nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant,
nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days The Lord made
heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the
seventh day: wherefore The Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed
it.)
21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt
be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor,
and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow Me.
22 But when the young man heard that
saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 Then said Jesus unto His
disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter
into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you, It is
easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich
man to enter into the kingdom of God.
25 When His disciples heard it, they
were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
26 But Jesus beheld them, and said
unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are
possible.
John 8:31 KJV
Then said Jesus to those Jews which
believed on Him, If ye continue in My Word, then are ye My
disciples indeed;
John 15:8 KJV
Herein is My Father glorified, that
ye bear much fruit (Galatians 5:22,23/ Ephesians 5:9); so shall
ye be My disciples.
James 1:6,7 KJV
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing
wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven
with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he
shall receive any thing of The Lord.
