Resurrection Proof
Bible Questions Answered:
“How do we know the resurrection?...”
Chesney/ Beijing, China
Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:
We may know the
reality of the resurrection, by reading The Word Of God, it gives us The
Truth.
Deuteronomy 8:3 KJV
"...man
doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of
the mouth of The Lord doth man live.
Psalm 119:89,105,130 KJV
89 For ever, O
Lord, Thy Word is settled in heaven.
105 Thy Word is
a Lamp unto my feet, and a Light unto my path.
130 The
entrance of Thy Words giveth Light; it giveth understanding unto the
simple.
Proverbs 29:18 KJV
Where there is
no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth The Law, happy is
he.
Matthew 5:18 KJV
For verily I
say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall
in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Luke 21:33 KJV
Heaven and
earth shall pass away: but My Words shall not pass away.
John 5:39 KJV
Search The
Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are
they which testify of Me.
I Thessalonians 2:13 KJV
For this cause
also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received The Word
Of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men,
but as it is in Truth, The Word Of God, which effectually worketh
also in you that believe.
II Timothy 3:16 NLT
All Scripture
is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make
us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are
wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
II Peter 1:21 KJV
For the
prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God
spake as they were moved by The Holy Ghost.
According to
the inerrant Word Of God, here are eye witness accounts of Christ's
resurrected existence.
Mary Magdalene:
John 20:11-18
KJV
11 But Mary
stood without at the sepulcher weeping: and as she wept, she stooped
down, and looked into the sepulchre,
12 And seeth
two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at
the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13 And they say
unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they
have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid Him.
14 And when she
had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and
knew not that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus saith
unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing
Him to be the gardener, saith unto Him, Sir, if thou have borne Him
hence, tell me where thou hast laid Him, and I will take Him away.
16 Jesus saith
unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto Him, Rabboni;
which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith
unto her, Touch Me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father: but
go to My brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto My Father, and
your Father; and to My God, and your God.
18 Mary
Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen The Lord, and
that He had spoken these things unto her.
The two other
Mary's;
Matthew 28:8-10
NLT
8 The women ran
quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with
great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s
message.
9 And as they
went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to Him, grasped
His feet, and worshiped Him.
10 Then Jesus
said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell My brothers to leave for
Galilee, and they will see Me there.”
Peter:
Luke 24:34 NLT
"...The
Lord has really risen! He appeared to Peter.”
The two
disciples on the Emmaus Road:
Luke 24:13-31
NKJV
13 Now behold,
two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus,
which was seven miles from Jerusalem.
14 And they
talked together of all these things which had happened.
15 So it was,
while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and
went with them.
16 But their
eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him.
17 And He said
to them, “What kind of conversation is this that you have with one
another as you walk and are sad?”
18 Then the one
whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, “Are You the only
stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which
happened there in these days?”
19 And He said
to them, “What things?” So they said to Him, “The things
concerning Jesus Of Nazareth, who was A Prophet mighty in deed and
word before God and all the people,
20 and how the
chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death,
and crucified Him.
21 But we were
hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides
all this, today is the third day since these things happened.
22 Yes, and
certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early,
astonished us.
23
When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also
seen a vision of angels who
said He was alive.
24 And certain
of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the
women had said; but Him they did not see.”
25 Then He said
to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that
the prophets have spoken!
26 Ought not
The Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His
glory?”
27 And
beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all
the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
28 Then they
drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that
He would have gone farther.
29 But they
constrained Him, saying, “Abide with us, for it is toward evening,
and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them.
30 Now it came
to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread,
blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.
31 Then their
eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.
Ten of the
apostles:
Luke 24:36-45
KJV
36 Now as they
said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said
to them, “Peace to you.”
37 But they
were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit.
38 And He said
to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your
hearts?
39 Behold My
hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a
spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”
40 When He had
said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.
41 But while
they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them,
“Have you any food here?”
42 So they gave
Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.
43 And He took
it and ate in their presence.
44 Then He said
to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was
still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written
in The Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”
45 And He
opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the
Scriptures.
John 20:19-24
KJV
19 Then, the
same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors
were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews,
Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with
you.”
20 When He had
said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples
were glad when they saw The Lord.
21 So Jesus
said to them again, “Peace to you! As The Father has sent Me, I
also send you.”
22 And when He
had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive The
Holy Spirit.
23 If you
forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the
sins of any, they are retained.”
24 Now Thomas,
called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus
came.
Eleven Apostles:
John 20:24-29
NKJV
24 Now Thomas,
called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus
came.
25 The other
disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen The Lord.” So he
said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails,
and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into
His side, I will not believe.”
26 And after
eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them.
Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said,
“Peace to you!”
27 Then He said
to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach
your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but
believing.”
28 And Thomas
answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Jesus said
to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed.
Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Jesus appears to
seven disciples at the Lake of Tiberius:
John 21:1-19 NLT
1 Later, Jesus
appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is
how it happened.
2 Several of
the disciples were there—Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin),
Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other
disciples.
3 Simon Peter
said, “I’m going fishing.” “We’ll come, too,” they all
said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all
night.
4 At dawn Jesus
was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who He
was.
5 He called
out, “Fellows, have you caught any fish?” “No,” they replied.
6 Then He said,
“Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll
get some!” So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because
there were so many fish in it.
7 Then the
disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s The Lord!” When Simon
Peter heard that it was
The Lord, he
put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the
water, and headed to shore.
8 The others
stayed with the boat and pulled the loaded net to the shore, for they
were only about a hundred yards from shore.
9 When they got
there, they found breakfast waiting for them—fish cooking over a
charcoal fire, and some bread.
10 “Bring
some of the fish you’ve just caught,” Jesus said.
11 So Simon
Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore. There were 153
large fish, and yet the net hadn’t torn.
12 “Now come
and have some breakfast!” Jesus said. None of the disciples dared
to ask Him, “Who are you?” They knew it was The Lord.
13 Then Jesus
served them the bread and the fish.
14 This was the
third time Jesus had appeared to His disciples since He had been
raised from the dead.
15 After
breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love
Me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,”
Peter replied, “you know I love you.” “Then feed My lambs,”
Jesus told him.
16 Jesus
repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love Me?” “Yes,
Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.” “Then take care of
My sheep,” Jesus said.
17 A third time
He asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt
that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you
know everything. You know that I love you." Jesus said, “Then
feed My sheep.
18 “I tell
you The Truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked;
you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you
are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you
and take you where you don’t want to go.”
19
Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would
glorify God. Then Jesus told him,
“Follow Me.”
500 followers in
Galilee:
I Corinthians
15:3-6 NLT
3 I passed on
to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to
me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.
4 He was
buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the
Scriptures said.
5 He was seen
by Peter and then by the Twelve.
6 After that,
He was seen by more than 500 of His followers at one time, most of
whom are still alive, though some have died.
James in
Jerusalem:
I Corinthians
15:7 NLT
Then He was
seen by James and later by all the apostles.
Men of Galilee
watching the ascending Christ:
Acts 1:3-12 NLT
3 During the
forty days after He suffered and died, He appeared to the apostles
from time to time, and He proved to them in many ways that He was
actually alive. And He talked to them about the Kingdom of God.
4 Once when He
was eating with them, He commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem
until The Father sends you The Gift He promised, as I told you
before.
5 John baptized
with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with The Holy
Spirit.”
6 So when the
apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking Him, “Lord, has the time
come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?”
7 He replied,
“The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times,
and they are not for you to know.
8 But you will
receive power when The Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My
witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere—in Jerusalem,
throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 After saying
this, He was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they
could no longer see him.
10 As they
strained to see Him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly
stood among them.
11 “Men of
Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into
heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday He
will return from heaven in the same way you saw Him go!”
12 Then the
apostles returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, a distance
of half a mile.
Paul on the
Damascus road:
Acts 9:3-6 NKJV
3 As he
journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a Light shone around
him from heaven.
4 Then he fell
to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why
are you persecuting Me?”
5 And he said,
“Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you
are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
6 So he,
trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
Then The Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you
will be told what you must do.”
7 And the men
who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing
no one.
8 Then Saul
arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one.
But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.
9 And he was
three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
Martyrdom of
Stephen:
Acts 7:55 NKJV
But he, being
full of The Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw The Glory Of God,
and Jesus standing at The Right Hand Of God,
The apostle Paul
in the temple:
Acts 22:17-21
NKJV
17 “Now it
happened, when I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple,
that I was in a trance
18 and saw Him
saying to me, ‘Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, for
they will not receive your testimony concerning Me.’
19 So I said,
‘Lord, they know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat
those who believe on You.
20 And when the
blood of Your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by
consenting to his death, and guarding the clothes of those who were
killing him.’
21 Then He said
to me, ‘Depart, for I will send you far from here to the
Gentiles.’”
The disciple
John, while on the island of Patmos:
Revelation
1:10-19 NKJV
10 I was in The
Spirit on The Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of
a trumpet,
11 saying, “I
am The Alpha And The Omega, The First And The Last,” and, “What
you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are
in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis,
to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”
12 Then I
turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw
seven golden lamp stands,
13 and in the
midst of the seven lamp stands One like The Son Of Man, clothed with
a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden
band.
14 His head and
hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a
flame of fire;
15 His feet
were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as
the sound of many waters; 16 He had in His right hand seven stars,
out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance
was like the sun shining in its strength.
17 And when I
saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on
me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am The First And The Last.
18 I am He who
lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I
have the keys of Hades and of Death.
19 Write the
things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things
which will take place after this.
The Living
Christ, Here With Us Now!
Matthew 18:19,20
NKJV
19 “Again I
say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that
they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
20 For where
two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the
midst of them.”
Matthew 28:18-20
NKJV
18 And Jesus
came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me
in heaven and on earth.
19 Go therefore
and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit,
20 teaching
them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am
with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
