Bible Lesson: Prayers Of Jesus: Jesus Prayed In Absolute Trust Of His Father.
Bible Lesson: Prayers Of Jesus:
Jesus Prayed In Absolute Trust Of His Father.
Location: Calvary.
Lesson: The Just Shall Live By
Faith (Romans 1:17 KJV)
Bible Text:
Luke 23:46 KJV
And when Jesus had cried with a loud
voice, He said, Father, into thy hands I commend My Spirit: and
having said thus, He gave up The Ghost.
Luke 23:46 NLT
Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I
entrust My Spirit into your hands!” And with those words He
breathed His last.
Facing death from
the cross, our Lord boldly proclaimed, “Father, into thy hands I
commend My Spirit”.
Jesus knew who was
the giver of life, and it was and is Almighty God, and to His
faithful Father, He entrusted His Spirit.
Hebrews 9:27 KJV
And as it is appointed unto men once
to die, but after this the judgment:
Jesus The
Sinless Son Of God:
Isaiah 53:9 KJV
And He made His grave with the
wicked, and with the rich in His death; because He had done no
violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
Luke 23:41 KJV
And we indeed justly; for we receive
the due reward of our deeds: but this Man hath done nothing amiss.
John 8:46 KJV
Which of you convinceth Me of
sin? And if I say The Truth, why do ye not believe Me?
Hebrews 4:15 KJV
For we have not an High Priest which
cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all
points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 7:26 KJV
For such an High Priest became
us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made
higher than the heavens;
Hebrews 9:14 KJV
How much more shall The Blood Of
Christ, who through The Eternal Spirit offered Himself without
spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve The
Living God?
I Peter 1:19 KJV
But with The Precious Blood Of
Christ, as of A Lamb without blemish and without spot:
I John 3:5 KJV
And ye know that He was manifested
to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin.
Our Lord,
confidently entrusted Himself to The Heavenly Father, knowing that He
was sinless, having lived His Life in the will of The Father in
heaven.
And now what about
us?
May we say with all
confidence at our time of death “ Father, into thy hands I
commend My Spirit”?
If we rely upon our
own good deeds, spiritual works, baptism, confirmation, church
membership etc. etc. We will find that we are spiritually bankrupt!
For if baptism
saves, what a shame Jesus God's precious Son, had to come and die for
nothing!
What sheer
nonsense.
Salvation
“Not By Works”:
Psalm 62:2 KJV
He only is my Rock and my
Salvation..."
Isaiah 64:6 KJV
But we are all as an unclean thing,
and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do
fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us
away.
John 1:12,13 KJV
12 But as many as received Him, to
them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on His name:
13 Which were born, not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Romans
3:10,20-25 NLT
10 As the Scriptures say, “No one
is righteous— not even one.
20 For no one can ever be made
right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows
us how sinful we are.
21 But now God has shown us a way to
be made right with Him without keeping the requirements of the law,
as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago.
22 We are made right with God by
placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for
everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
23 For everyone has sinned; we all
fall short of God’s glorious standard.
24 Yet God freely and graciously
declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when
He freed us from the penalty for our sins.
25 For God presented Jesus as The
Sacrifice For Sin. People are made right with God when they believe
that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His Blood.
Romans 5:1 KJV
Therefore being justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Romans 6:23 KJV
For the wages of sin is death; but
The Gift Of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 11:5,6
NLT
5 It is the same today, for a few of
the people of Israel have remained faithful because of God’s
grace—His undeserved kindness in choosing them.
6 And since it is through God’s
kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s
grace would not be what it really is—free and undeserved.
I Corinthians
6:11 NLT
Some of you were once like that. But
you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God
by calling on the name of The Lord Jesus Christ and by The Spirit of
our God.
Galatians
2:16,21 KJV
16 Knowing that a man is not
justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus
Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might
be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of
the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of
God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in
vain.
Galatians 5:4
NLT
For if you are trying to make
yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off
from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.
Ephesians 2:8,9
KJV
8 For by grace are ye saved
through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is The
Gift Of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man
should boast.
Philippians
3:3,9 NLT
3 For we who worship by The Spirit
Of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what
Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human
effort,
9 and become one with Him. I no
longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law;
rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s
way of making us right with Himself depends on faith.
II Timothy 1:9
KJV
Who hath saved us, and called us
with an holy calling, not according to our works, but
according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ
Jesus before the world began,
Titus 3:5 NLT
He saved us, not because of the
righteous things we had done, but because of His
mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life
through The Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 10:4-18
NLT
4 For it is not possible for the
blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 That is why, when Christ came into
the world, He said to God, “You did not want animal sacrifices or
sin offerings. But you have given Me a body to offer.
6 You were not pleased with burnt
offerings or other offerings for sin.
7 Then I said, ‘Look, I have come
to do your will, O God— as is written about Me in the Scriptures.’”
8 First, Christ
said, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings or burnt
offerings or other offerings for sin, nor were you pleased
with them” (though they are required by the law of Moses).
9 Then He said, “Look, I have come
to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to put the
second into effect.
10 For God’s will was for us to
be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ,
once for all time.
11 Under the old covenant, the
priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering
the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins.
12 But our High Priest offered
Himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time.
Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
13 There He waits until His enemies
are humbled and made a footstool under His feet.
14 For by that one offering
He forever made perfect those who are being made holy.
15 And The Holy Spirit also
testifies that this is so. For He says,
16 “This is the new covenant I
will make with My people on that day, says The Lord: I will put My
laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”
17 Then He says, “I will never
again remember their sins and lawless deeds.”
18 And when sins have been
forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.
II Timothy 1:12
NLT
That is why I am
suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the
one in whom I trust, and I am sure that He is able to guard what I
have entrusted to Him until the day of His return.
I John 5:11-13
KJV
11 And this is the
record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in
His Son.
12 He that hath The
Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things
have I written unto you that believe on the name of The Son Of
God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may
believe on the name of The Son Of God.
What was it the
Apostle Paul said....
II Corinthians
5:21 NLT
For God made Christ, who never
sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be
made right with God through Christ.
Through faith in
Jesus Christ as our sacrifice for sin, we have eternal life.
Jesus Christ, God's
gift to man, His plan for salvation, pardon, atonement, and
justification.
Dear friend, when
your time comes to die, make sure your life has been hid in Christ,
so that you too may exclaim “Father, into thy hands I commend My
Spirit”.
Colossians 3:1-4
NLT
1 Since you have been raised to new
life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where
Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
2 Think about the things of heaven,
not the things of earth.
3 For you died to this life, and
your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 And when Christ, who is your life,
is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all His glory.
