Resurrections - Miraculous

Bible Questions Answered:
“Did the dead come back to life at the resurrection of Jesus?”
Corry/ Sydney, Australia New South Wales

Bible Answer:
Bible Text:
Matthew 27:52,53 KJV
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after His resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Matthew, alone, relates to us these wonderful events. After (not before, not at the same time, but “after,) the resurrection of Jesus, other saints were resurrected from the dead.

I Corinthians 15:20-23 KJV (Christ The First fruits of God's spiritual harvest. see Leviticus 23:9-22.)
20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become The First fruits of them that slept.
21 For since by man came death, by Man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ The First fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at His coming.

Acts 26:22,23 KJV
22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
23 That Christ should suffer, and that He should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

Jesus Christ, God's Son, became the first, to be resurrected into a Immortal Glorified risen body.
Those who were resurrected on Christ's resurrection day, were not resurrected into immortal glorified bodies, but into their earthly bodies, meaning again one day they would die.

Well, why this resurrection of these others?
In the first place they were...
  • Righteous dead, those who died in hope of a coming Messiah.
  • They added to the great throng of witnesses of Christ's miraculous resurrection.

I Corinthians 15:3-8 NLT (Apostle Paul)
3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.
4 He was buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
5 He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve.
6 After that, He was seen by more than 500 of His followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.
7 Then He was seen by James and later by all the apostles.
8 Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I (Apostle Paul) also saw Him.

And our Lord, made this promise to His followers:

John 14:1-6 KJV
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and The Way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto Him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know The Way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.

As God's people, we work and we witness of our risen Savior, but the day will come as He promised, when He will return for His people!

I Corinthians 15:51-58 KJV
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of The Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in The Lord.

I Thessalonians 4:13-18 NLT
13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.
14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with Him the believers who have died.
15 We tell you this directly from The Lord: We who are still living when The Lord returns will not meet Him ahead of those who have died.
16 For The Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.
17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet The Lord in the air. Then we will be with The Lord forever.
18 So encourage each other with these words.

II Timothy 1:10 KJV
...Jesus Christ... hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

I John 5:12 KJV
He that hath The Son hath life; and he that hath not The Son of God hath not life.

Dear friend, have you received the dear Lord Jesus into your heart and life as the Savior? To delay is to say no to Him.

Revelation 3:20 KJV
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him,..."

John 3:16 KJV
For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
