Bible Lesson: Miracles Of Jesus-Leper Healed.

Bible Lesson: Miracles Of Jesus; Leper Healed.

Location: Capernaum.

Text: Mark 1:35-45 KJV (Matthew 8:1-4/ Luke 5:12-16)
35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, He went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
36 And Simon and they that were with Him followed after Him.
37 And when they had found Him, they said unto Him, All men seek for thee.
38 And He said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.
39 And He preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
40 And there came a leper to Him, beseeching Him, and kneeling down to Him, and saying unto Him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth His hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
42 And as soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
43 And He straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;
44 And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to Him from every quarter.

Jesus' custom was to rise up early to pray and to be at the temple. Teaching in the temple was not peculiar to the Sabbath, for teachings were held on Mondays and Thursday's as well.

On His way to the temple, a leper in his great need came to Jesus.
The leper's approach to Jesus, shows us a great way to come to our Lord while in “our” need.

The leper....
Mark 1:40
And there came a leper to Him, beseeching Him, and kneeling down to Him, and saying unto Him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

* Came to Jesus.
* Besought Jesus (To ask earnestly, eagerly.)
* He knelt before Jesus
* He presented his need to the Lord.

This leper showed-
*Faith
* Humility, and
* Submission

As Christians, we are to be a people of faith.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Luke 1:37 KJV
For with God nothing shall be impossible.

James 5:15 KJV
"And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up..."

Hebrews 2:17 KJV We have...
"...a merciful and faithful high priest..."

Hebrews 4:14-16 KJV
14 Seeing then that we have a Great High Priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

I Peter 5:7 KJV
Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.

Mark 1:41-43 KJV
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth His hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
42 And as soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
43 And He straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;

There’s No Disappointment In Jesus

1. There's no disappointment in Jesus,
He's more than my tongue can tell;
His love is so sure and so steadfast,
His friendship divine will not fail.

Chorus:
There's no disappointment in Jesus,
He's all that He promised to be;
His love and His care comfort me everywhere;
He is no disappointment to me.

2. There's no disappointment in Jesus,
Tho' sorrows may press me sore;
He comforts with tender compassion,
His love cheers my heart evermore.

3. There's no disappointment in Jesus,
He satisfies me always;
So strong and so willing to help me,
In Him I find comfort each day.

No one is ever disappointed, by coming to the Lord Jesus for help!

Isaiah 61:1-3 KJV
1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.

Jesus instructed the man

Mark 1:43-45
43 And He straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;

See Leviticus chapters 13 & 14 regarding levitical purification laws.

It was the duty of the priest, to judge a man clean or unclean, regarding disease.
And so Jesus told the man, to present himself to the priest, and to make an appropriate offering.

Now, although Jesus had commissioned the man to say nothing to anyone, other than to the priest, he told everyone. Why did he do it? Certainly not out of disrespect for the Lord, but because of the fulness of his joy, he could not contain the event.

The result was that crowds of people came looking for Jesus, so much so that He could no longer enter into the city, but had to resort to desert places, and yet even there they found Him.

As Christians today, we are not to contain, our testimony...but broadcast it, so that others, like ourselves, may find the Saviour.

Matthew 10:7 KJV
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mark 16:15,16 KJV
15 And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Acts 5:20 KJV
Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

II Timothy 4:2-5 KJV
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
